Invitation to summer picnic on Tuesday 21 August at Château de Bascous (near to Eauze). This is a sharing event that is free and open to LLC members, partners and guests.
Thank you for responding to my last email and letting me know whether you are coming or not. It is great to see that you are supportive of this event, even if you are not able to attend because of holidays. This has allowed the Committee to plan for the event. We are very much looking forward to it.
We realise that this is a time of year that you need to be flexible therefore, you can continue to book in yourself alone, with your partners and / or guests up until the day of the Picnic. We hope to see you there. Please continue to book / let us know if you cant attend.
SUMMARY OF KEY DETAILS:
- You can come alone (many ladies are) or with partners or guests. Please bring enough food for your party and a plate to share with others on your table.
- We will have tables and chairs. Therefore, you can join a group of LLC members or you can form a table of your own. There will be enough tables and flexibility to accommodate whatever you want to do - you can even bring rugs and sit on the floor in true picnic-style if you want
- There is shade (should it be hot) and there will be a tent (should it be bad weather). This is a venue that is used for weddings so they are used to different weather settings.
- There will be a beer degustation by a new group of bio-beer producers. LLC will be sponsoring some free beer and bottles will be available to purchase. LCC will also provide some soft drinks / still water and wine. You are welcome to bring your own wine if you want something special
- Please bring your own cutlery, crockery and a glass.
- This event is FREE and is not restricted in numbers (as long as we know the numbers in advance)
- The picnic will start at 12:00 for 12:30.
- All welcome!! Come and join this new opportunity and give it a try.
Dates for your diaries
- Friday 10 August Walk at Sabazan (7kms) at 10.00. It is looking like the weather is cooler. This is an easy circular walk around Subazan, near Aignan. This is a pretty village with its half moat which dominates the valley of the Midour. Our walk will offer excellent views towards the Pyrenees, we will pass the 15th century church of St John the Baptist and some of the vineyards of St Mont. If you want to attend or are interested in learning more please replay to this email
- 16th August – the book club will meet for an informal afternoon of poetry readings, with nibbles and drinks. The book list for September will follow shortly. If you are interested in joining this group please reply to this email.
- Next lunch Tuesday 18 September at Auberge La Baquere. We have selected this venue because they have a large, covered outside area and we are hoping that we will be able to extend our summer programme with our final meeting outside. Please note the change of date.
- The October meeting Tuesday, 9th October and will be at the Hotel Le Commercial at Condom. They have offered us a very interesting menu and we wanted to ensure that we move around the region.

Written in 1993 by April di Angelis, it tells the story of the first actresses (famously including Nell Gwynn) who were allowed to perform on stage after the Restoration. Having real females in the roles, instead of boys, caused a sensation and attracted predatory interest from the Harvey Weinsteins of the day in the shape of the aristocracy. Bawdy, irreverent and funny, this play has been performed worldwide for 25 years and now finds itself very topical, given the recent scandals in Hollywood and elsewhere. No need to pay in advance but reservations essential, just drop a line to floyd.lucy@googlemail.com. (A resume of the play is available in French and can be emailed in advance.)
