Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

LLC Summer Picnic







Dear Ladies


Invitation to summer picnic 
on Tuesday 21 August 
at Château de Bascous (near to Eauze)


We are delighted to invite you to the first summer picnic on Tuesday 21st August at Chateau de Bascous.  This is a wonderful courtyard setting and the perfect location for a picnic with lawns under to chat in the leafy shade.  It is surrounded by vines and open countryside to take an afternoon stroll or if you feel more energetic, there are tennis courts or areas for petanque.  A perfect chance for us all to share food and to spend a relaxing afternoon together.


We have arranged for tables and chairs but you are welcome to bring your own chairs/ picnic sets or even a rug to enjoy a true picnic. There will also be a tented area, in case the weather is less-favourable.

The picnic will be “auberge espagnole” style.  Therefore, please can you bring the protein / some of the food that you and your party want to eat, plus a large plate of something for sharing (salad, pie, quiche, desert, cheese).  You may want to organise yourselves into groups with your guests / fiends and work out the picnic that you will bring between you.  We want to make this as free and relaxed as possible, but with a big gesture of sharing. Please bring your cutlery, places, glasses etc so that you are self-contained.

LLC will be subsidising the event by providing the venue (tables, chairs and tent), table coverings, music (please bring any CDs that will add to the ambiance) wine, soft drinks and we are delighted to offer a beer degustation.  This will be a range of bio-beers that are produced by new producers in our region. 

This event is completely GRATUIT and is open to you, your partners and guests. There is no restriction on numbers – you just need to provide sufficient food for your party. 

The picnic will start at 12:00 and will continue into the afternoon.  We are planning to have a petanque for fun competition during the afternoon (with prizes).  If there is somebody who knows the rules and would be prepared to run this we would be grateful of the assistance. Please can you complete the attached form to let us know if you will be attending and how many people you think that you will be bringing with you.  Also, please can you indicate the type of food plate that you will be bringing.  Please also add any comments of other activities that you would like to see included.  Although there is no deadline for booking, please can you let us know as quickly as possible if you are interested in this venture so that we can get an indication of the anticipated numbers.

The NEXT LLC Lunches


The next LLC lunch will be on the THIRD Tuesday 18 September at Auberge La Baquere.  
We have selected this venue because they have a large, covered outside area and we are hoping that we will be able to extend our summer programme with our final meeting outside.  Please note the change of date.

The October lunch will be back to the SECOND Tuesday, 9th October and will be at the Hotel Le Commercial at Condom.  They have offered us a very interesting menu and we wanted to ensure that we move around the region.


Group Activities 

Friday 10th August – Walk at Sabazan (7kms) at 10.00.  This is an easy circular walk around Subazan, near Aignan.  This is a pretty village with its half moat which dominates the valley of the Midour.  Our walk will offer excellent views towards the Pyrenees, we will pass the 15th century church of St John the Baptist and some of the vineyards of St Mont.  If you want to attend or are interested in learning more, please email:
