About Us

Réans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The LLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

Walking Activities

Friday 8 February -  The February circular walk is located at Lagraulet (which is between Montreal and Gondrin) and there are several optionsThe longer walk is a moderate 12 kms; Variant (1) is about 8 kms (easier) and Variant (2) is about 10 kms (moderate).  The walk takes us into the Gers countryside with some outstanding views passing through two hamlets and by two mills and a lot of friendly horses!  But  there is a steep incline at the end!  Variant (1) does NOT use this route back into the village and is therefore much easier.  I estimate that the longer walk should take us no more than 3.5 hours and is 70%/30% tracks/lanes.

Wednesday 13 February - This is the re-walk of Sos which is an easy 8 kms circular walk.

Gardening Group - Please note that there are no activities for January.

LLC Walk 8 - Lagraulet

Dear Walkers

For our next walk, I propose a moderate, circular walk with 2 variants around Lagraulet on:

Friday 8 February at 11.00 am

The longer walk is 12 kms; Variant (1) is about 8 kms and Variant (2) is about 10kms.  The walk takes us into the Gers countryside with some outstanding views passing through two hamlets and by two mills and a lot of friendly horses!  But, I would like to point out that to get back into Lagraulet, there is a steep incline at the end!  Variant (1) does NOT use this route back into the village and is therefore much easier.  I estimate that the longer walk should take us no more than 3.5 hours and is 70%/30% tracks/lanes.

Lagraulet is a pretty hill-top village situated between Gondrin and Montreal-du-Gers.  From either Gondrin or Montreal, take the D113 and turn-off at the St Lannes crossroads onto the D254.  We will meet in the village square and parking is outside the Marie/hotel in the square.

The re-walk of Sos will take place on:

Wednesday 13 February at 11.00 am

This is an easy circular walk of 8 kms and we will meet up outside the Post Office in the village square.  Sos is located just over the border in the Lot and Garonne department on the D656 between Gabarret and Poudenas.  This is a much easier, flatter walk and takes us past the old mill at Sos and into some ancient woodlands passing through the hamlet of St Martin before heading back into Sos.  Please note that we do have to walk on a main road - the D109 Reaup/Sos road.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

The January meeting was on the theme of ‘women who have been influential’, with a series of very interesting and different presentations (in French).  The February meeting (5th February) will be on the theme of ‘our leisure activities’

Gardening Group – there are no activities in January. Activities will start in February

Helping Hands: A group of ladies have been visiting Joyce Weston, our oldest Honorary Member, regularly while she was in the Maison de Retraite in Eauze.  Thank you to all of the helping hands volunteers for your support.  Please see notice below

Walking Group – walks have started in 2019, walks to Sos and Bazian have already taken place.   If you are interested in joining a walk please let us know

The knitting Group and Singing Group – meet weekly.

Obituary – Joyce Weston 1927 – 2018.
Joyce passed away peacefully on December 26th at the Maison de Retraite in Eauze at the age of 91.  She had worked until she was 79 years old, concluding as Secretary at a Health Centre.  Prior to that she worked in the Civil Service and in the RAF.  She came to France in September 2005 with her son Kim and daughter-in-law Jackie. Just before Christmas our Choir went to her room and quietly sang a few projects.  Our thoughts are with Joyce and her family.

Club Administration
The next meeting will be the AGM on Tuesday 12th February at the Salle de Fete, Reans.  Prior to the AGM, I will be sending the following

  • A questionnaire on communication channels and the level of information that you like to receive / frequency and which channels you want to use).  It would be very helpful if you could complete this as it will help to streamline communication next year (I will send this next week)
  • Membership renewal form.  Membership is now due for renewal.  I will be collecting money / cheques for €10 from next week and at the AGM.  I also want to collect your contact details by an electronic form; this will include your consent to store your information on our mailing system and also to permit transfer of your details to the various subgroups.  This will make us compliant with data protection.  By sending an electronic form (with a paper back up) it will also allow me to ensure that all contact information is correct (by cutting and pasting) and to clean up all information.  This will be a cleaning exercise, and anyone who no longer wishes to be a member / or kept on the mailing list until they return to France will be removed from the database.  Please look out for this email.
  • Prior to the AGM, I will resend the minutes from last year, agenda and formal notification of the AGM.  This will be part of the next lunch announcement.
Thanks for your continued support

LLC Walk 7 - Sos

Dear Walkers

Happy New Year 2019 to everyone.

Our first walk of the New Year will take place at Sos (just over the border in the Lot and Garonne department located between Gabarret and Poudenas) on Friday 4th January.  It is an easy 8kms circular walk with not too many hills!  We will meet up in the main square outside the Post Office.

Most of the walk is on tracks but we do walk onto the D109 Reaup/Sos road twice but no for very long but it can be busy.  From the village square, we pass by the 'Marie' and then the cemetery before heading out towards the countryside.  The walk takes us through a pretty wooded environment following a stream (now dry) and out onto an easy, clean track.  We double-back on ourselves on the D109 (unfortunately there is no cut-through!) and then head towards the hamlet of 'St Martin' before joining the D109 again and walking back into Sos.

Monday 7th January - re-walk of Bazian

There is an option of TWO walks and you are very welcome to do both or either. We will meet at the Monument des Morts outside the cemetery.

5a - A modified circular easy walk of 5 kms starting at 11.00 am and
5b - A modified moderate walk of 11.5 kms staring at 12.30 pm.

Bazian is an ancient medieval village with its 'porte' and chateau situated on the D174 which is located off the D34 Vic Fenzensac to Montesquiou road.  The walks have outstanding panoramic views of the valleys of the Guirou and l'Auzoue and we will pass an abundance of old mills.  The terrain is hilly and the amount of tracks v road walking is an estimation of 60/40 but the only main road is the D174 to the village which is about 0.5 km of walking.

If you would like to join our walking group or would like further information, please email
