About Us

RĂ©ans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

LLC Garden Group meeting May 2015

Dear Gardeners

Another month has flown past and we are fast approaching the next garden visit which will take place on

Thursday 7th May 2015 at 14.30h.

We are going to
La Roseraie du Desert
owned & run by
Becky & John Hook
not far from Aignan.

This is a small nursery that mainly specialises in 19th century roses and they have a garden where the roses in their collection can be viewed.

More information & directions can be found on their website : http://www.frenchtearose.com

http://www.frenchtearose.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Slide9.jpg
Becky has just had an operation on her knee so her husband John will show us round and talk to us about pruning. Becky has said she will provide tea and Pat will bring a cake.

We will meet there at 2.30 - as usual don’t forget to car share if possible !

I would be most grateful if you could let me know if you are coming so we can give Becky & John an idea of numbers.

Look forward to seeing you then

Caroline & Pat

For any further information of the 2015 programme please see the blog page of the garden group.

Dear Members,

We thought it may be a nice idea to compile a list of

‘Days Out for Visitors’ for our members,

and would very much appreciate any comments and recommendations of unusual days out,

an example of this would be a visit to the Airbus factory in Toulouse.

Please give any ideas you may have to Kate (our secretary) at the April Lunch or send via email:
lunchclubgascogne@gmail.com

Book club meeting April 2015

Our March book, Song of Time by Ian Macleod certainly invoked a good discussion and most people had appreciated reading it.
One of those book club books that we may not have chosen ourselves but glad we have now read.

April 16th meeting:

May 21st meeting:

June 18th meeting:  Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

July 16th meeting:  A Classic of your choice – pre 1950

August we will have another ‘garden party’ – books to be decided.

Here is a reminder of a few books people were talking about:

Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro
Mr Mac & Me by Esther Freud
A book by Terry Pratchett

Thanks to those who came to the meeting last week and to Sue M. for her amazing cakes!
Sadly we said goodbye to Susan who’s moving away, but she’s coming back to visit us.
See you in April, if not before.

Jackie
