About Us

Réans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

Creative Writing Course: Amanda Hodgkinson, award winning novelist, has a two day course organised for March 21st and 22nd. It is being tailored to participants’ needs. Those attending are of mixed ability. There are two places left on the course, which costs 100 euros and is being held in Labatut Riviere (between Maubourguet and Plaisance). Deadline to hand in text/manuscript is 31 January 2015.
If you are interested in attending the course or require further information please call NLT end January Jane Cooper 05.62.31.58.97

Yoga & Pilates Course with Kate Coulson: bookings are now being taken for a class in Nogaro, 10.00 – 11.15 am on Thursdays in the room above the cinema. The term will run for 14 weeks at a cost of 100 euros per term
to include membership and insurance. Mats and blocks will be provided. Classes will commence as soon as ten people have registered their interest with Kate on 07.86.63.07.79 or happycoulson@orange.fr

Old Christmas Cards: please bring along any old Christmas cards to the next lunch. The Craft Group in Reans are very happy to ‘recycle’ them and are already planning their 2015 Marche de Noel!

Plastic bottle tops: for those of you who help us to collect the plastic bottle tops I thought you would be interested to know that in March 2014 almost 12 tonnes of bottle tops were collected in the Gers and sent to Belgium, to a company called Erisplast for recycling. Since 2008 around 30,000 euros has been available to help
handicapped people in the Gers. The association ‘Les Bouchons d’Amour’ would like us to strive to recycle even more of these bottle tops. Places which act as collection points for the plastic lids include every Gamm Vert in the Gers, Vivadour, Gasco Nature, France-Parebrise in Auch, Tereva in Auch, Leclerc and Carrefour. The association is hoping to encourage the Conseil General and the network of dechetteries in the Gers to make available more collection points.

If you cannot find a local collection point for your plastic bottle tops, please feel free to bring them along to a Ladies Lunch and Kate will make a monthly mass deposit! It is probably worth asking at your local dechetteries if they have a special collection point for them.

The Depeche du Midi published an article on these ‘bouchons’ on Saturday 1st November 2014 if you would like further info.

During 2014 we received many requests for sending out information to all our Members regarding special events, or an activity which could be of interest to them.
To do this individually is time-consuming, we therefore ask that any Member wishing to put out information (non-commercial) should email Kate at lunchclubgascogne@gmail.com before 25th of the month of event to be included in the Diary Dates of the following month.

Second-hand Greetings Cards:
Pamela Savage  has requested that we start to collect our old greetings cards
(Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc).  These are very useful when our ‘crafty ladies’ recycle them into beautiful new objects!  Kindly bring along anything you think could be recycled to the next Ladies Lunch.  Thank you!

Knitting Group – would you like to help?

This year we are knitting for babies a little closer to home.  The Salvation Army have a great need for baby clothes at HMP Bronzefield, and also at their Baby Bank at Ilford.  This winter they would also like hats, scarves and blankets for babies, children and homeless adults in Essex.

We need buttons for baby clothes, wool, ladies to wind balls of wool from cones and more knitters – all tools provided.
Please call Marion Pitchley on 05 62 08 37 93 or give your donations to a committee member.
