Dear Walkers
Happy New Year 2019 to everyone.
Our first walk of the New Year will take place at Sos (just over the border in the Lot and Garonne department located between Gabarret and Poudenas) on Friday 4th January. It is an easy 8kms circular walk with not too many hills! We will meet up in the main square outside the Post Office.
Most of the walk is on tracks but we do walk onto the D109 Reaup/Sos road twice but no for very long but it can be busy. From the village square, we pass by the 'Marie' and then the cemetery before heading out towards the countryside. The walk takes us through a pretty wooded environment following a stream (now dry) and out onto an easy, clean track. We double-back on ourselves on the D109 (unfortunately there is no cut-through!) and then head towards the hamlet of 'St Martin' before joining the D109 again and walking back into Sos.
Monday 7th January - re-walk of Bazian
There is an option of TWO walks and you are very welcome to do both or either. We will meet at the Monument des Morts outside the cemetery.
5a - A modified circular easy walk of 5 kms starting at 11.00 am and
5b - A modified moderate walk of 11.5 kms staring at 12.30 pm.
Bazian is an ancient medieval village with its 'porte' and chateau situated on the D174 which is located off the D34 Vic Fenzensac to Montesquiou road. The walks have outstanding panoramic views of the valleys of the Guirou and l'Auzoue and we will pass an abundance of old mills. The terrain is hilly and the amount of tracks v road walking is an estimation of 60/40 but the only main road is the D174 to the village which is about 0.5 km of walking.
