RĂ©ans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

Obituary – Joyce Weston 1927 – 2018.
Joyce passed away peacefully on December 26th at the Maison de Retraite in Eauze at the age of 91.  She had worked until she was 79 years old, concluding as Secretary at a Health Centre.  Prior to that she worked in the Civil Service and in the RAF.  She came to France in September 2005 with her son Kim and daughter-in-law Jackie. Just before Christmas our Choir went to her room and quietly sang a few projects.  Our thoughts are with Joyce and her family.

Club Administration
The next meeting will be the AGM on Tuesday 12th February at the Salle de Fete, Reans.  Prior to the AGM, I will be sending the following

  • A questionnaire on communication channels and the level of information that you like to receive / frequency and which channels you want to use).  It would be very helpful if you could complete this as it will help to streamline communication next year (I will send this next week)
  • Membership renewal form.  Membership is now due for renewal.  I will be collecting money / cheques for €10 from next week and at the AGM.  I also want to collect your contact details by an electronic form; this will include your consent to store your information on our mailing system and also to permit transfer of your details to the various subgroups.  This will make us compliant with data protection.  By sending an electronic form (with a paper back up) it will also allow me to ensure that all contact information is correct (by cutting and pasting) and to clean up all information.  This will be a cleaning exercise, and anyone who no longer wishes to be a member / or kept on the mailing list until they return to France will be removed from the database.  Please look out for this email.
  • Prior to the AGM, I will resend the minutes from last year, agenda and formal notification of the AGM.  This will be part of the next lunch announcement.
Thanks for your continued support

Janet
