LADIES LUNCH CLUB - Wednesday 12th November 2014

Dear Ladies, 

Our November lunch will take place 

Wednesday 12th November 2014 in the 

Salle culturelle of Cravencères

  

where two of our Lunch Club members, 
Michelle Chavenon and Dagmar Buenemann, 
will be cooking a delicious meal with a Moroccan flavour, which will be served as a Buffet.

We have also invited Kate Coulson to come and talk to us about the benefits of  Yoga and Pilates, 

and if there is enough interest she is willing to take a class in Nogaro.

We would like Kate to speak before the lunch so our timing is slightly different this month. 
We would therefore be pleased if everyone could arrive at 12.00 noon and be seated by approx. 12.15.

The talk will last approximately half-an hour.
There will then be 15mins before lunch is served at 1.00 pm prompt.

On this occasion please bring your lunch money in cash (17€) in an envelope with your name on it.

Creative Writing Workshop:  Amanda Hodgkinson, award-winning writer, has agreed to give a creative writing workshop in November.  The two day course will cost about 100 euros (depending on numbers, ten – twelve places maximum), to include a bring and share lunch.  It will be held in Labatut Riviere 65700.  Amanda is a

charming lady and a celebrated author with an MA in Creative Writing.  Dates to be decided in the near future.

Knitting Group – would you like to help?

This year we are knitting for babies a little closer to home.  The Salvation Army have a great need for baby clothes at HMP Bronzefield, and also at their Baby Bank at Ilford.  This winter they would also like hats, scarves and blankets for babies, children and homeless adults in Essex.

We need buttons for baby clothes, wool, ladies to wind balls of wool from cones and more knitters – all tools provided.

Ladies Lunch Club 14th October 2014

Dear Ladies,

Our October lunch is being held on 

Tuesday 14th October 2014 at 

‘LA BONNE AUBERGE’  Manciet 

at the usual time of 12.30 pm.

Unfortunately on this occasion we have to restrict our number to 40, so it will be a question of ‘first come first served’, and priority will be given to Members. 

However, judging from the number attending over the past few months, this should not present a problem.  

Can we also remind you to have your 17€ or cheque made out to ‘La Bonne Auberge’ in an envelope with your name on it to simplify taking of money.


Coffee is not included in the price. 
It is becoming more and more  difficult and time consuming to find restaurants to suit our needs for our price, but rest assured we are doing our best.

We also have the pleasure to welcome Kate Coulson to this lunch to talk to us about Yoga and Pilates and the benefits to women’s health.  So please make a note of this in your diary.

Art class with Lesley Gasking in Aire sur l'Adour

Dear Ladies,

 

Lesley Gasking is the teacher who is British, although she will conduct her classes in French, 

but can obviously speak English if necessary.

 

As well as drawing, the idea is to discover how we perceive the world through our drawings.  

The last half an hour of the lesson is spent discussing our work and a small talk about a painter. 

There is a journee Portes Ouvertes at L'Association Renc'art, 2 rue du chateau, Aire sur Adour on

 

Tuesday 16th September from 10am to 6pm. 

 

This first lesson is free and you will be able to chat with Lesley and see examples of artwork.

 

The material is provided at a cost of 10 euros per term.  

The class is 180 euros per year plus a 20 euro joining fee.  

The class runs throughout the school holidays.  Lessons are available 

Tuesday afternoon 4pm-6pm or 

Tuesday evening 7pm to 8.30pm.

Bookclub meeting September 2014 and outlook on October, November and December choices

Our August meeting was an exchange of members current book titles and reading experiences as well as their recommendations.  We had a really nice afternoon  talking about the books we had been reading which were all fairly varied. 

What's next?
The September meeting is to take place on (changed to a) Wednesday 17th at Pam’s, 2.30 when we will discuss the book by 

Donna Tartt 'Goldfinch'.

I suggested we have a theme for November (Thursday 20th )and I was asked to choose one:  
so the November book you choose should be about Queens.  
It can be anything that relates to a Queen:

We also choose a book for December  (Thursday 18th December) which is (the modern classic)
Babette’s Feast by Karen Blixen  
a short, relevant, fun read for pre-Christmas.

Cantabile choir: 

Carole Clark asks “would you be interested in coming to sing with our Choir called Cantabile for our two traditional Christmas concerts in
Tasque and Plaisance? We rehearse on Tuesdays from 3rd Sept at the Salle de Fetes in Tasque 

at 2.30 pm. The concerts will be Friday 12th Dec at 8.30 in Tasque and
