About Us

RĂ©ans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

Bookclub meeting October 2014

This is to confirm our October meeting on
Wednesday 15th October , 2.30

at Pam’s in Reans.
We will be discussing Pam’s book choice

"Alaska, 1920: a brutal place to homestead, and especially tough for recent arrivals Jack and Mabel. Childless, they are drifting apart—he breaking under the weight of the work of the farm; she crumbling from loneliness and despair. In a moment of levity during the season's first snowfall, they build a child out of snow."

Hopefully you have chosen the theme book, your ‘Queen’ for the November meeting on Thursday 20 November.
It can be anything that relates to a Queen:

a biography, fiction relating to a Queen, Priscilla Queen, bees – literally anything that takes your fancy.
Any more information about the bookclub please see the bookclub page of this blog.

charming lady and a celebrated author with an MA in Creative Writing.  Dates to be decided in the near future.

Knitting Group – would you like to help?

This year we are knitting for babies a little closer to home.  The Salvation Army have a great need for baby clothes at HMP Bronzefield, and also at their Baby Bank at Ilford.  This winter they would also like hats, scarves and blankets for babies, children and homeless adults in Essex.

We need buttons for baby clothes, wool, ladies to wind balls of wool from cones and more knitters – all tools provided.

Please call Marion Pitchley on 05 62 08 37 93 or give your donations to a committee member.

Second-hand Greetings Cards:  Pamela Savage  has requested that we start to collect our old greetings cards
(Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc).  These are very useful when our ‘crafty ladies’ recycle them into beautiful new objects!  Kindly bring along anything you think could be recycled to the next Ladies Lunch.  Thank you!

Ladies Lunch Club 14th October 2014

Dear Ladies,

Our October lunch is being held on
Tuesday 14th October 2014 at

Picture

at the usual time of 12.30 pm.

Unfortunately on this occasion we have to restrict our number to 40, so it will be a question of ‘first come first served’, and priority will be given to Members.

However, judging from the number attending over the past few months, this should not present a problem.

Can we also remind you to have your 17€ or cheque made out to ‘La Bonne Auberge’ in an envelope with your name on it to simplify taking of money.

Coffee is not included in the price.
It is becoming more and more  difficult and time consuming to find restaurants to suit our needs for our price, but rest assured we are doing our best.

MENU on 14th October 17€  (wine included)

Tarte Tomate et Crudities

Salmon Grille a la plancha avec Gratin de Legumes

Gratin de Fruits
(coffee not included)

Please make your reservation as soon as possible, but by Thursday 9th October at the latest.

As this is the last lunch before Armistice Day, Julia Grange will have Poppies for sale, and we hope you will give generously -  All the money goes to the British Legion.

There will also be a Video Exchange, so if you have any to share please bring them along.

We will also try to upgrade our Raffle Prizes this month, but still welcome donations - so please delve into your cupboards for any unwanted articles.

Can we also remind everyone that the

!!!
November lunch will take place on
Wednesday 12th
!!!

in view of the fact that the Tuesday is Armistice Day and a holiday.
On this occasion there will be no restriction of numbers.  It will take place in the Foyer at Cravencere, when two of our Members, Michelle Chavenon and Dagmar Buneman have volunteered to make us a ‘Cous Cous’.

We also have the pleasure to welcome Kate Coulson to this lunch to talk to us about Yoga and Pilates and the benefits to women’s health.  So please make a note of this in your diary.
The booking form with full details will be sent out at the end of October.

In the meantime we look forward to seeing as many as possible in October.
