About Us

My photo
Réans, Armagnac, 32 Gers, France
Our objective is to promote friendship between women of all nationalities living in Gascony, SW France, to share our interests and to offer help when needed. The Club started in 2008, with twenty English ladies living in Gascony, using a foreign language and experiencing a new life. Since then, several different groups have been added and our membership has grown into the hundreds, with new ladies moving to the area and ladies who have lived here a while, who have discovered us, who want to make new acquaintances and discover new areas of interest. Today we have eleven nationalities, and our speaking/working language is English. The GLC meets on the second Tuesday of each month, excluding July and August.Every member receives an email each month, giving the name of the restaurant, the chosen, menu and a booking form. In 2014, we became a non-profit making Association, known as Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac and was re-named in 2019 to Gascogne Ladies Club. Our annual subscription fee of 10 € is payable in January each year. Each member of the Club may participate in some or all of our various groups

Walking Activities -

Walk - TBA - Cazaubon & Barbotan-les Thermes @ 11.00 am

This is a circular 10kms walk (with variant of 7.5 kms).  The walk starts at the Lac de l'Uby at Barbotan and then takes us through the old village of Cazaubon with its well-preserved 'portes' and onto the old railway track back to Barbotan.  We'll walk through the pretty gardens (with lotus lily ponds) opposite the thermal spa before returning to the lake.  Please note that we do have to walk on the main road for some of this walk.

Re-Walk - TBA - Viella starting at 11.00 am

This is an moderately easy 5kms walk starting at 11.00 am.  We start in the village (located south of Riscle) and head out towards the vineyards towards the lake.   We then continue uphill through the woods (the challenging bit!) passing very close by the Chateau of Viella with its fun tree-house made from an old oak barrel and its vine tunnel. With fantastic  panoramic views of the Gers countryside, as usual!

Gardening Group - Our first outing of the year will take place on 🌹TBA.  We are re-visiting the charming garden of Adrienne Childs at Les Jardins de Clogs - L'escloupe, 65670 Gaussan.   Meeting there in the car park at 14.30h.

Adrienne has been making some changes in the garden and is going to give us a talk on the subject of ‘rewilding’, the importance doing all we can as gardeners to work with nature rather than against it and encouraging biodiversity.

This will be followed by a look around the gardens and, for those who would like, Adrienne will provide tea and cake. Those of you who came last time will remember that her cakes are absolutely delicious 🧁🍰

NB There will be a charge for this visit - I will confirm the amount nearer the time and send directions

Talking Shop -   The next meeting of the Causerie (or Talking Shop) is in Castelnau d'Angles on Tuesday 3 March at 2.15 pm when we will be watching the film 'Les Chorists'.

The lunch will be catered by Michelle and Dagmar, two of our members who have previously catered for the AGM. Based on your feedback at the AGM, we are holding this extravaganza at the Salle de Fêtes at Réans, which will give us the space to hold the market, will not be crowded and we should not have to restrict numbers

The Christmas Fair will start at 10:30 with coffee, cake or if you prefer mulled wine.  This will be an opportunity to look around the market and chat with each other.

The lunch will commence at 12:00 with an aperitif and canapés.  The cost for the lunch, including all wine and coffee is €20 for members and €25 for guest.  Please can you complete the form in your email to register your place and your menu choice.  You can also use the form to register as a stall holder in the market or to send your apologies.
