LLC Lunch July 2018

Dear Ladies

We are delighted to invite you to a very special summer

BBQ Lunch on Wednesday 4th July 

at Chateau de Buros

This is a favourite venue and they have offered us a fantastic menu, which will be enhanced by a performance by our own choir, the Gesabelles, as well as a LLC sponsored Sangria aperitif.  We hope that will be able to spend a leisurely and convivial afternoon together in the shade of the Chateau grounds.  We also have the option of being inside should the weather not co-operate. 

Our hosts, Angélique and Marijn de Wit, have created a fantastic menu, with a mixture of BBQ foods (meat, fish and vegetables), sauces, salads as well as a choice of deserts.  The BBQ is open to partners and guests.  Please use the form in your email to make the reservation for yourself and your guests.

The Summer BBQ 

Booking-in commences from 12:00.  (please see below for the cost)

LLC Sponsored welcome reception: Apéritif Sangria avec des grignotages (nibbles).  To commence at 12:30

 From the Barbecue:

Bavette de bœuf (beef) / pilons de poulet (chicken drumsticks) / Araignée de porc marinée a la provençal (pork provencal)  / brochette de poulet (chicken kebab)

Papillote de saumon à la coriandre, gingembre et citronnelle

Brochette de légumes (vegetable kebabs) avec champignon, poivron, courgette et aubergine

Choice of three sauces:  Sauce Barbecue, Sauce crème ail et persil (garlic and parsley), sauce Tzaziki

Salads : Pomme de terre en papillote (potato parcels), Salade pommes de terre croquantes (crunchy potato salad), salade tomates mozzarella, salade taboulé.

Desert

Banana préparée sure le barbecue avec sauce armagnac et raisins

Salade de fruits du verger marines al la verveine (salad with fruits of the orchard marinated in verbena)

Mousse de fruits exotiques

Featuring a special performance by the Gesabelles.

Reserve your place now.  The cost is €20 for members and €25 for each guest.  Wine is not included in this price. 

The BBQ is open to partners and guests.  Please book early as numbers will be capped at 90, when the cap is reached additional names will be added to the waiting list.  You are welcome to bring house guests with you, if someone is visiting.  In the event that we are over subscribed with a lot of guests we may need to ask you to restrict guest in order to ensure that all members (plus 1 guest) can attend.  We hope that it won’t be necessary to implement this. Please bring your cheque for €20 (members) and €25 (each quest) made payable to “Ladies Lunch Club de l’Armagnac” or cash in an envelope marked with your name and the number of guests.  

Deadline for booking:   The deadline for booking is Friday 22^nd June (or sooner if the cap is reached).  Numbers will be accepted after this date (by email) if we still have place.  I will advise on the status when I send out the reminder email and list of responders.  Please note, that we will need to charge for any cancellations received after 12:00 on Monday 2^nd July (within 72 hours of the lunch).

Book now to avoid disappointment: Please can you submit your reservation as soon as possible, early booking will ensure that you have a place and avoid disappointment.  If you have problems with the form, think that it has not worked or prefer to send an email, please respond to this email indicating how many guests you would like to register.  In this case, I will manually enter your wishes.  I will send out the reminder email and list of responses next week.

Keep the date free: Extra Special Summer Picnic on Tuesday 21^st August at Chateau de Bascous (near to Eauze).  This will be an “auberge espagnol”, in which you bring something for 6-8 people (eg a savoury salad, quiche, etc  or a dessert.  This will be free and will be open to as many guests as you would like to bring.  LLC will be sponsoring the venue, wine and some food.  We will have a local biological beer producer who will be giving a degustation.

Book Club – we are reading Crisis by Frank Gardner.  Meet on the 3^rd Thursday of every month at 14; 30

Garden Visit June 2018

Dear Gardeners

Our next outing will take place on

Thursday 7th June

We are lucky enough to have a rare opportunity to visit the lovely private garden of Alex Constantine at his home called 'Perron' near Moncrabeau.

This is a landscaped, park-like setting reminiscent of the gardens of "Capability Brown". There is also a parterre in front of the house, many roses and specimen trees with an attractive pool area and fine views.

Tea will be served after the visit.

GETTING THERE

The house 'Perron' lies about 2 km to the east of the village of Moncrabeau.

Moncrabeau is between Condom and Nerac on the D930.  Turn off the D930 onto the D219, which will take you through Moncrabeau. Staying on the D219, it will take you about five minutes and you’ll find  'Perron' on you right.

LLC Walk June 2018

Dear Members

The LLC is proposing to launch a new activity to include walking and our first LLC walk will take place on 

Wednesday 6th June

starting at 14.30 at Ju Belloc.

This is an easy circular walk (about 8 kms) and should take you no more than 2.5 hours to complete.  

It starts at Ju Belloc and walks through a donkey sanctuary - the donkeys are friendly!  We then skirt along the River Adour following the Greenwich Meridian Line.  We turn off towards Belloc and then travel back northwards parallel to the D173 on footpaths towards our starting point.  We should see pretty flora and fauna as we pass through ancient woodlands and should see the ancient 'lavoir' and mill near Ju Belloc.

We will supply a map in English and French for this walk.​​

If you would like to participate in this walk but feel that it is too long; it is possible to walk part of it (say through the donkey sanctuary and along the River Adour) but you would have to re-trace your steps back to the start.  This would be about 4 kms.

LLC Lunch June 2018

Dear Ladies

We are delighted to welcome you to next LLC lunch on 

Tuesday 12th June

at La Falene Bleue in Lannepax.  This is a lovely venue in the summer with a large covered terrace and has recently been taken over by a young couple who are rapidly building their reputation with their style of food, ambience and quality service.  

Our hosts, Fabien and Helene, look forward to welcoming us to the lunch and offer the following menu.  They hope that we all have a very enjoyable experience and we hope that the sun will be shining.

The cost is 19 Euro, which includes wine, tea or coffee.

​The deadline for bookings is MONDAY 4th June  but numbers will be capped at 50; so book early to avoid disappointment. When we reach this number any additional names will be added to a waiting list. 

Please can you submit your reservation form as soon as possible together with your choice of starter and main course. Please book early so that we can ensure that there is a place for everyone.
